Article

Cochise College President James Perey announced the appointment of Jacqline “Jacqie” Allen as the college’s new associate vice president for student services. She began her role in August. Dr. Allen oversees academic advising & career services, admission & registration, financial aid, student recruitment, student housing, student leadership & activities, and student success & Title IX, which oversees accessibility services, testing services and tutoring.

Dr. Allen brings more than two decades of experience in education and student support. Most recently, she served as the acting dean of student success and director of online student success at Pima Community College, where she began as an adjunct faculty member before transitioning into a full-time counseling position. Over 12 years, she advanced through leadership roles in student affairs and student success, including academic counselor, advising program manager, director of advising & counseling, director of online student success and acting dean of student success.

Dr. Allen’s background also includes service in K–12 and nonprofit settings. She worked in a domestic violence youth crisis shelter, served as a substitute teacher while completing her graduate studies, and spent a decade as a high school counselor.

“As a first-generation college student and throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping students discover their strengths, align them with academic pathways, and pursue careers that bring purpose and stability,” Allen said. “I am honored to join Cochise College in this leadership role, and I look forward to building upon the college’s strong commitment to student success.”

Outside of her professional role, Dr. Allen enjoys spending time in nature. “I find renewal in nature and movement,” she said. “Hiking and exploring new areas allow me to disconnect, reflect, and recharge. These moments often bring clarity and a renewed sense of purpose, helping me stay grounded and energized both personally and professionally.”

Most recently, Allen earned a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in eLearning and Leadership from National University, further deepening her expertise in digital learning environments and strategic leadership. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in education with a specialization in school counseling, both from the University of Arizona.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Allen as our new Associate Vice President for Student Services.
